Sumatra is the second largest of Indonesia’s islands. Sumatra is known as the richest of the country’s coffees and often described as bold, spicy, and earthy. Farmers cultivate this rich Arabica coffee in the northwestern part of the island on independent medium size farms, or estates, with mostly traditional methods and process the ripe coffee “cherries” with a combination of dry and wet methods. Once they are decaffeinated by the European water process, Our Gourmet Coffee convection roasts™ these specialty coffee beans to emphasize their best characteristics.
