Moka (also spelled Mocca or Mocha) refers to the name of the Yemeni market port through which Arab traders shipped Ethiopian Harrar (and its Yemeni grown version) to European customers centuries ago. Java refers to the fine estate grown Arabica coffee from the Indonesian island of Java. The Mocha-Java from Our Gourmet Coffee is an exquisite blend of rich gourmet coffee characteristics: the Java Estate gives its sweet rich flavor, medium aroma, and medium-full body; while the Ethiopian Harrar imparts its winey acidity, rich flavor with hints of currant, and full body to make a wonderful combination in your coffee cup.
Other blends by this name sometimes use different coffee varietals from Africa or Yemen in place of Ethiopian Harrar. With this Mocha-Java you know you are getting the authentic blend of these two gourmet specialty coffee beans.
